Things my parents taught me.

There are many things to be grateful of from your parents,

here are just some of the things they taught me.

A code of conduct.

Sit up Straight

Look how you want people to see you.

Look successful, feel yourself as already the person you want to become.

Look smart and you’ll feel smart.

Saying Yes & No

It’s not what you say it’s how you say it – so say it right first time.

There are ways of accepting gracefully and others of letting people down lightly.

Treat people how you like to be treated.

Learn from others

You can learn what to do and what not to do from other people.

Follow those you wish to emulate.

Learn from those who make mistakes so you too can avoid them in the future.

Have heroes; read books, watch how they dress, deport themselves

and use it to become more successful.

Be a student: Study, practise and teach.

Standing too close

We all have space where we feel comfortable,

so work out others to ensure they feel comfortable around you

and don’t back away.

Too close is too close.

Don’t visit too often

Remember not to pester people so that they become fed up of seeing you.

Visit as frequently as needed but no more.

It is better to be invited than be rejected.

Eat before you eat.

If you have something to eat before you go to a meal

you won’t appear hungry and you’ll have more time

to be sociable and communicate.

It’s not a feeding frenzy as some people think.

Finishing schools.

Women have an advantage, some go to finishing school

whilst most just learn how to listen.

Men are usually left out of this loop and have to learn;

I know many men who are not finished.

There is a big difference between self-made and finished.

Attract success.

There you have it simple home truths that will stand you in good stead

and start you on the road to success.

We never stop learning but if we start here it will give us a good foundation.

Thank you Mum & Dad.

Thank you to Jim Rohn for the original idea for this article.

As always I wish you success in all you do.
